Just sit back & Let you Fight your secret war

Here are some of the epic (or epicly BAD) songs that made me all barfy back in the day:

  • Alice Cooper "Poison" (I was totally going to marry him when I was in kindergarden)
  • Billy Idol entire Billy Idol record (I was also going to marry this dude,  Alice won't mind. AWK: There is a VHS tape somewhere out there in the world of me singing & playing a red "electric" guitar. My repertoire at the time? Yeah all Alice Cooper and Billy Idol.)
  • Chris Isaak "San Francisco Days" and all of the Heart Shaped World record (AWK: My mom had a crush on him too, oh to be two single ladies in SF in the 80s)
  • U2 "Until The End of the World"
  • Screeching Weasel "Crying In My Beer"
  • Duran Duran "Come Undone"
  • Nirvana "Aero Zeppelin"
  • Siouxsie & The Banshees all of Superstition
  • The Church "Reptile"
  • B52's "June Bug"
  • Concrete Blonde "Joey" - One year I was Jhonette Napolitano for Halloween, true story. The year before that I was PJ Harvey. Whatever.
  • Berlin "Metro"
  • Divinyls - I don't want to get into specific songs here. It's all bad news. But Damn this brought up a tangent, bear with me. I just saw recent pictures of Chrissy Amphlett and man she looks busted! According to her website bio, Divinyls was a "fierce, uncompromising outfit that lays claim to being the best band Australia has ever produced." - WAIT WHAT??!?!? Move over -The Church, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, INXS & more- Chrissy has an IV bag full of the good Aussi shit and she's on a mission!! Someone call this bitch up, I don't think she got the memo because her face was  sleeping under a rock: AC/DC IS THE BEST BAND AUSTRALIA EVER PRODUCED. I feel boorish and rude for having to even remind your stupid ass. Anyway.
  • Gene Loves Jezebel "Gorgeous," and "Desire" - forgot about these gems? Take a trip over here and relive the magic!
  • LL Cool J "I Need Love" - yeapppp
  • Madonna "Justify My Love"
  • The Cure "Love Cats"
  • INXS - "Need You Tonight" (tainted for life when my mom started doing step aerobics to INXS)
  • Depeche Mode "Never Let Me Down," and "World In My Eyes" (It actually sounds like Gahan must have been having sex while recording "World In My Eyes" - there is no other conceivable way he could sound like that.)
  • Dramarama "Anything, Anything"
  • Ministry "Revenge" - I'm getting overwhelmed by the video on YouTube right now, I forgot how dude looks like an angry Edward Scissorhands.

I should quit while I'm ahead here... I also left out a lot of the older stuff my mom had on Vinyl because that would mean I liked some of her weird old hippie-folk-stoner music (Jethro Tull? Seriously mom you're cramping my broody child punk vibe), and I WILL DENY IT ALWAYS! Wow.  No wonder I was so damn miserable, look at this list. It's amazing I made it out of the 80s/90s alive. Thank god for my mom's coworkers making me punk mix tapes to balance out all this horsehit. Youth is so... exhausting!
